J. DASH'S HIT SINGLE "WOP" GOES GOLD
Emerging Superstar Celebrates 500,000 Sales of His Debut Single "WOP" And Releases new "WOP EURO" mix for 2012 Summer Olympics
New York, NY (May 12, 2012)-- On May 12th, USA TODAY "Artist on the Verge" J. Dash's debut single "WOP" surpassed 500,000 sales according to StereoFame Records, earning the young superstar his first GOLD record, an impressive feat for the lone artist of the independent label. The song, which has been bringing in new fans for months, created an international dance craze while the music video featuring J. Dash's friend and multi-platinum selling rapper Flo Rida, along with other "WOP" videos, have attracted the attention of over 60 million YouTube viewers worldwide.
"I can't even begin to explain how exciting it is to see "WOP" go gold," said J. Dash. "This record started as something my friends and I did for fun in the clubs and has now become a worldwide sensation unlike anything I could have dreamed of. With the release of "WOP EURO Mix" and "Transformer," I know I can continue to keep my fans dancing throughout the summer!"
In celebration of this remarkable accomplishment, J. Dash and StereoFame Records have released the "WOP EURO Mix," which has already received international acclaim by reaching the #1 bullet spot on the Deutsche Black Charts and is now on the playlist of Europe's top radio stations. This newest incarnation, produced by UK sensation Super Stylers, was commissioned by StereoFame Records to celebrate the 500,000th sale as well as position "WOP EURO" for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
"We're honored with the success that we've achieved with J. Dash, but we're not stopping here," said StereoFame Records CEO Ken Underwood. "Reaching Gold Record status with our first release isn't our end game. Our focus now shifts to making "WOP EURO" become the engine that drives J. Dash to Platinum status, crossing into TOP 40 markets world-wide while we simultaneously execute our strategy to promote the mix with the fans and athletes attending the Summer Games in London."
2011 saw J. Dash perform on national TV shows like "The Daily Buzz," have his video debut on MTV Jams, and "WOP" become the fastest growing dance song in the United States charting on the Mediabase charts, Billboard singles charts (spending 17 weeks on the Hip-Hop/R&B Hot 100) and become the #1 record on TuneCore. On January 31st, 2012, J. Dash released his highly acclaimed album "Tabloid Truth," available online and at Wal-Mart through an exclusive physical distribution deal made possible by an agreement worked out through StereoFame Records media consultant Thompkins Marketing.
Before introducing the "WOP" to the world, J. Dash was a piano prodigy and classically trained pianist who played Mozart for his family and friends at age 5. Throughout his teens, however, he cut his teeth playing in various blues and jazz bands. A rapper, songwriter, producer, mixer & multi-instrumentalist, this Renaissance man also holds a degree in computer science from the University of Florida.
J. Dash's debut album "Tabloid Truth," features a mix of up-tempo dance tracks and introspective selections like the title track and the anthem-like album opener "Life." Dubbed as having "the skills and the voice to transcend all hip-pop conventions" by Music Connection Magazine, the album has been praised for its layered appeal. "The listener can enjoy the songs just on the surface," said CelebrityCafe.com. "But a more discriminatory listener can look for deeper meaning and more subtle musical nuances and find them as well."
